DEBT.STILL_OPEN — the account records this debt and the catalog still shows it

  • Category: safety
  • Level: 0
  • Stability: stable
  • Suites: audit, deploy

The committed debt ledger records this debt, and the live catalog still shows it. Nobody has finished the second half.

Why the age is on the finding

"Open" on its own says very little — the safe two-step patterns are supposed to leave something owed for a while. What separates a normal deploy from a forgotten one is how long it has been that way, so the finding carries the number and the configured bands (deploy.debt.thresholds) raise its severity as it crosses them.

An acknowledged debt does not escalate. Somebody looked at it, decided to carry it, and wrote down why — the argument for caring more has already been heard and answered.

What to do

Finish the second step. The debt disappears from the report on its own, and the entry goes on the next sqlens:lint --debt=record in the repository.

If it is not going to be finished soon, say so in the file: set state: acknowledged with a reason and ideally a review_at. That is a decision on record rather than a number that keeps growing.
